Samsung amends patent suit to target Apple's new iPhone 5 - GigaOM

The suit states that the new iPhone infringes on the same patents as the already-accused older iPhones, iPads and iPod touch models included in previous court documents. In all, Samsung accuses the new smartphone of violating eight Samsung patents.

It?s been just over a month since Apple stuck Samsung with a?more than $1 billion jury verdict?over patent infringements related to the iPad and iPhone. But Samsung continues to fight back: Late Monday night the Korean electronics maker filed legal papers to add the brand new iPhone 5 to its legal complaint against Apple.

The suit states that the new iPhone infringes on the same patents as the older iPhones, iPads and iPod touch models cited in Samsung?s original complaint. In all, Samsung accuses Apple of violating eight Samsung patents, according to ZDNet.

What?s interesting is that these patents mostly focus on 3G-related intellectual property. There?s no filing yet that accuses Apple of infringing on LTE patents, which Samsung has repeatedly threatened over the last month.

Also on Monday, a judge dissolved an injunction on Samsung?s Galaxy Tab 10.1 in light of the jury?s finding in August that it didn?t infringe iPad patents.
