Jay-Z & Kanye West?s ?No Church In the Wild? Wins Best Rap/Sung Collaboration At The Grammys

?I would like to thank the swap meet for his hat,? as quoted by Jay-Z and directed towards The-Dream, was what the ether King Hov jokingly spat during his acceptance for his Grammy for Best Rap/Sung?Collaboration. ?No Church In the Wild,? the captivating intro from 2011?s Watch the Throne, granted Jay-Z, Kanye West, Frank Ocean and The-Dream the win.

As previously stated, Jay-Z, The-Dream and Frank Ocean accepted the award in lieu of the G.O.O.D. Music frontman?s absence, who opted to travel throughout Brazil with Kim Kardashian instead.

?No Church In the Wild??faced stiff competition for the award, contending with Nas and Amy Winehouse?s ?Cherry Wine,? Flo Rida?s ?Wild Ones,? Rihanna?s ?Talk That Talk? and?John Legend?s ?Tonight (Best You Ever Had)? as fellow?nominees.

The?Best Rap/Sung?Collaboration Grammy was Jay-Z and Kanye West?s third statue of the night, having previously won two for their undeniable smash hit ?N***as In Paris.? This also happens to be Frank Ocean?s second Grammy of the night, which he won just minutes after accepting an award for Best Contemporary Album.

Hats off to those guys.

9 Ways to Cope with Memory Loss - Elder Care Cafe

With the growing number of baby boomers entering their senior years, we also see an increase in memory loss and related memory problems. This can be especially problematic if they live alone.

In the sixties and seventies, we had problems with my maternal grandparents. My grandfather died from complications of dementia in 1966. My grandmother was living in her longtime home far away from us after his death when a neighbor found her wandering down their country road with no idea where she was or where she was headed.

Many of us can become forgetful no matter how old we are. We especially can lose a thought or forget where we were headed even within our own home if we are under stress or extremely busy. But, the memory loss that seems to plague the elderly is often more than a busy or stressful lifestyle.

Cause of memory loss. Drugs or dementia ? knowing the difference can determine whether this is a temporary problem or a long term diagnosis. One of the first things you want to take a look at if your loved one is struggling with their memory is to determine if it is drug related or the beginning of a disease such as a form of dementia. Some drugs have a serious effect on memory. Your pharmacist or primary care physician can let you know if that is a possibility. The more drugs elders take, the more likely they will interact in a negative way. You will also want tests run that will show whether the memory loss is due to a much more serious reason.

Concentrate on the moment. When we are busy or under stress, any of us can have trouble remembering details. One way we can help our loved one, and ourselves, is by concentrating on what we are doing at that moment. If your mind has ever wandered while you were doing something and you lost track of where you were going or what you were going to do next or even forgot an important item from a recipe, you will know what I mean. Staying focused on the task at hand will help your loved one complete that task without losing track of what they were doing. If they continue to have problems with concentrating on one thing at a time, they may have a deeper memory problem.

Repeat important information. When you are talking to your loved one, gently make sure they are paying attention to what you are saying. You may need to repeat yourself several times so that they will remember such things as what time supper is served, or that they have a doctor?s appointment that afternoon. When someone they know stops by, you may want to say the person?s name out loud first so as not to embarrass your parent in case they don?t remember who the person is even if they have known them for years.

Focus on routine movements. Even short term memory loss related to drugs can be dangerous to seniors. Leaving a kitchen stove on or forgetting that they are running water for a bath can cause serious problems. If they are in the habit of locking their door when they leave their home or at night when they go to bed, they must continue that routine in order to stay safe. Help them stay focused on their daily routine so that it is so ingrained in their memory that they perform these tasks by rote. When they start forgetting even the most routine tasks, they need to be seen by a physician for further evaluation.

Develop good habits. Developing good habits goes along with focusing on routines. The earlier seniors build good habits and establish routines, the longer those habits will serve them well when they start to have memory problems. Their subconscious memory will take over to a certain extent so that they can continue their daily life.

Develop a routine. One problem many seniors have is that they start skipping meals as they age. They are not as active as they used to be and they haven?t the appetite they had when they were young and active. If they have developed a specific time to eat each day, they will more than likely stick with that routine. My father eats three meals a day and has an evening snack before he goes to bed. I?ve not seen him miss or skip that routine in the six years I?ve been his caregiver.

Establish a schedule. Similar to developing a routine, establishing a schedule helps the elderly keep track of what day it is. Right now Dad has someone come in to give him a shower on Monday and Friday (increasing to Wednesday in a couple of weeks) and he goes to the senior center on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Although he is struggling with his memory, he always knows what day it is because of his routine. He gets up early in the morning to get ready for the van to pick him up for what I call Daddy Day Care without having to be told. That is one thing he very much enjoys and he does not forget!

Keep a detailed calendar. For many years my mother kept birthdays, appointments and anything else she wanted to remember on a wall calendar so that everyone in the family could see what was going on. As her dementia worsened, one of the last things to go was her calendar even if we couldn?t read what she wrote before dementia took its toll.

Take notes. Mom also kept a steno notebook nearby when she realized she was losing her memory. Everything went into that notebook so that she could remember what she wanted to tell people or who stopped by to visit on any given day. She had used this type of book for their travels for many years, so it had become a habit to write things down.

Hopefully these nine ways to cope with memory loss will give your family ideas on how you can help your loved one. Depending on what is causing their memory loss, these ideas may be a short term fix or may be able to help them through a very difficult long term struggle.

Oil rises on euro gains; pump price at $3.59

NEW YORK (AP) ? Gasoline prices leveled off in the Northeast, as the region's drivers hopped back in their cars after digging them out of huge snow banks over the weekend.

Pump prices fell slightly in New York, Rhode Island and Connecticut while holding steady in Massachusetts, Vermont and New York. A massive winter storm walloped the region with up to 3 feet of snow.

The national average rose again, however, as prices climbed in other parts of the country. The price in California gained a penny overnight and is now more than $4.05 a gallon. Just a month ago the state average was $3.63 a gallon.

The national average is now at $3.59, up from $3.31 a month ago.

Meanwhile, the price of oil rose more than $1 as the euro strengthened against the dollar. The euro rose to $1.3415 against the dollar from $1.3363 late Friday in New York.

A strong euro tends to result in higher oil prices by making crude priced in dollars cheaper ? and a more enticing investment ? for traders using currencies other than the greenback.

Benchmark oil gained $1.31 to finish at $97.03 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

In London, Brent crude, used to price international varieties of oil, fell 77 cents to end at $118.13 a barrel on the ICE Futures exchange.

In other energy futures trading on the Nymex:

? Wholesale gasoline fell 4 cents to finish at $3.02 a gallon.

? Natural gas rose less than a cent to end at $3.28 per 1,000 cubic feet.

? Heating oil gave up less than a penny to finish at $3.23 a gallon.

Space Race in Asia Heating Up

The United States and the Soviet Union pushed each other to new heights during the Cold War space race, and now something similar appears to be unfolding across Asia.

In the past two months, both North Korea and South Korea successfully launched satellites to orbit for the first time, and Iran claimed it sent a monkey to suborbital space?and retrieved the animal unharmed. Such activities are not isolated incidents, but rather highlight a growing trend, experts say.

"I think there's a significant Asian space race?going on," said Joan Johnson-Freese, professor of national security affairs at the Naval War College in Newport, R.I.

Rockets and missiles

North Korea's satellite launch came on Dec. 12, while rival and neighbor South Korea celebrated a similar milestone on Jan. 30. Iran announced the success of its monkey mission on Jan. 28, though some observers have voiced doubts about the claim, which has yet to be verified by Western intelligence officials.

The United States and other nations have condemned the North Korean and Iranian launches, viewing them as thinly disguised tests of ballistic missile technology that both countries are supposed to be prohibited from developing. [Images: North Korea's Rocket Program]

There's not much difference, after all, between a satellite-carrying rocket and a warhead-toting intercontinental ballistic missile, which reaches suborbital space on its way toward a distant destination on Earth's surface. Resolutions passed by the United Nations aim to keep such technology out of the hands of North Korea, which possesses nuclear weapons, and Iran, which is thought to be pursuing them.

Asia's two most populous nations have also been flexing their space-technology muscles recently. Since late November, both China and India have conducted major missile-defense tests, which employ technology similar to that required to take out satellites, Johnson-Freese noted.

"All of this technology is very symbiotic between civilian and military aspiration," she told SPACE.com.

China leads the way

Iran claims its monkey launch will help pave the way for a human spaceflight mission, which the nation hopes to accomplish by 2020 or so. India has also voiced a desire to blast an astronaut into space.

Such ambitions are in large part a response to the achievements of China, Johnson-Freese said.

In 2003, China became the third country (after the United States and the Soviet Union/Russia) to launch a person into space. And last year, China pulled off a manned docking in Earth orbit, executing a demonstration mission that could lay the foundation for a crewed space station down the line.

"They think they cannot allow China to be seen as that far ahead of them technologically," Johnson-Freese said of Indian officials. "And the connotation of human spaceflight is technological sophistication."

China's human spaceflight successes have garnered the nation and its leaders a great deal of prestige both regionally and around the globe ? a fact not lost on India and Iran, Johnson-Freese said. Such nations likely view the articulation of bold aims as important, even if success is a long shot or a long way down the road.

"They know they can't catch up [to China], but they have to be seen as active players," Johnson-Freese said.

(AP) ? LeBron James ran a few steps behind the play, knowing exactly what was coming. The lob from Norris Cole arrived, and the NBA's reigning MVP rose for a catch and dunk.

He made it look easy.

He's making everything look easy right now.

James scored 32 points on 12-for-18 shooting in a record-setting show, Dwyane Wade scored 30 and the Miami Heat beat the Los Angeles Lakers 107-97 on Sunday for their fifth straight win.

It was James' fifth straight game with at least 30 points, a franchise record. He also joined Adrian Dantley (1979) and Moses Malone (1982) as the only NBA players to score at least 30 and shoot at least 60 percent in five straight outings, the team said.

"Don't take it for granted," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. "He's making greatness look easy."

Mario Chalmers scored 13 and Chris Bosh finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Heat.

Kobe Bryant had 28 points and nine assists for the Lakers, who also got 18 points from Earl Clark. The Lakers had eight turnovers in the fourth quarter, while Miami had none.

"Turnovers," lamented Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni. "You have to give them credit. They're good."

With the win, Miami moved 2? games clear of the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference standings. The Knicks lost to the Los Angeles Clippers earlier Sunday.

Dwight Howard and Steve Nash each scored 15 for the Lakers.

"They have a couple of sensational players over there that made some big plays," Bryant said.

Indeed, James and Wade stole the show down the stretch.

Wade also shot 12 for 18 for Miami, which shot 55 percent as a team and held a 38-29 edge in rebounding. James scored 20 in the second half and Wade had 18 in the final two quarters, but the defending NBA champions weren't able to pull away until the final minutes.

Wade had five straight points for Miami, the last of them coming with 7:15 left when his three-point play put the Heat up 89-82 ? at that point, their biggest lead of the day.

A minute later, Wade started what might have been Miami's signature sequence of the game.

He stepped in front of a pass by Bryant under the basket, then flipped it to Bosh before falling out of bounds. Bosh got the ball to Cole, who beat Nash down the court, then lobbed a pass over his head to James, who soared for a slam that gave the Heat a seven-point lead once again.

"You could feel the buzz in the arena today," James said. "We were just happy that we were able to play our game, weather some of their storms that they had and come out with a win."

With 3:25 left, James turned in another highlight.

He stole a pass, drove down the court and Nash ? who found himself in the lane against a fast-charging James plenty of times Sunday, all to no avail ? simply had no chance.

It was almost as if Nash wasn't even in James' field of vision. He leaped for a dunk, giving him 30 points and the franchise record, and Miami's lead was nine. Bryant scored on the next Lakers possession, but Shane Battier hit a 3-pointer with 2:42 left to put Miami up 100-90 for the first double-digit lead for either team all day.

That was the last gasp for the Lakers, who finished their road trip at 4-3.

"We had our chances, but we weren't good enough tonight," Nash said. "We had too many breakdowns and we had opportunities to stretch the lead at times in the game and we couldn't do that either so probably in the end we didn't deserve it."

The teams finished the first half tied at 53, and the third period didn't allow either team much in the way of breathing room either, until the final seconds.

That's when James started flexing some muscle.

James scored Miami's last 11 points of the third, all in the final 4:20, and four of those came in the last six seconds. He was fouled by Clark and made the first free throw. Then the second attempt was tipped back out by Battier to James, who was just beyond the 3-point line. He connected from there, and the Heat took a 78-73 lead into the fourth.

It took a few more minutes, but eventually James and Wade helped Miami put it away.

"D-Wade came and he just started cooking in the fourth quarter," Bryant said. "He started doing what D-Wade does and made sensational play after sensational play."

Rapper Lil Wayne ? a semi-regular in the crowd at Heat games ? was there for the first half, then tweeted that he was ejected for rooting for the Lakers. Security personnel were seen talking to the rapper at halftime, and a Heat spokesman said after the game that he chose to leave on his own and was not ejected.

NOTES: The Heat have now won six of their last seven games against the Lakers. ... James made his first five shots, which left him at 42 for his last 52 attempts from the floor to that point, a ridiculous 81-percent clip. ... Bryant had five assists in the first quarter, tying a season best. ... Celebrities in attendance included Miami Hurricanes coach Jim Larranaga, pro golfer Justin Rose and Donald Trump. ... LSU football coach Les Miles live-tweeted the game, noting that James is "more athletic in person."
